Continuing Student Application Information

In order to be considered for IUPUI competitive scholarships, you must fill out a scholarship application (via the online process). IUPUI is excited to be launching a new online scholarship application process for our continuing, transfer and returning student population. The application will open late Fall 2017 for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Tips for Applying

  • Use grammar and spell check on your computer. It is also a good idea to have another set of eyes review your work to catch any mistakes.
  • For scholarships based on financial need, your FAFSA must be filed by March 10th in order to qualify.
  • Frequently correspond with those who will be writing your letters of recommendation, reminding them of the deadline and answering any questions they may have for you. The more familiar they are with your qualifications, the better the quality of the letter of recommendation.

More Tips for Applying

Essays: It goes without saying that essays should observe the general rules of English. It is also recommended that you put your name on each page of the essay. Faculty read the essays to understand you better and gauge your abilities; so be sure to edit thoroughly, use spell check, and have someone else review your essay. Originality is encouraged, but observance of grammar rules is even more important.

Interviews: Some scholarships require interviews. Dress professionally. Be prepared to provide details regarding: your educational goals; how this scholarship will help you achieve those goals; and how your unique qualities will contribute to the scholarship program.

Recommendations: Recommendations must be completed by an academic advisor or faculty member who can attest to your character and academic performance. If you have been out of school for some time, clergy members or employers may submit recommendations. Recommenders cannot be family members.
